Warehouse insurance and freight forwarder insurance brokers
The insurance arrangement for freight forwarding and warehousing businesses is controlled by the conditions under which they operate.
Most freight forwarders operate under the conditions of the British International Freight Association (BIFA) and Warehousemen under the conditions of the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA).
The insurers prefer that their clients use these conditions as they set out the basis on which the work is undertaken which very often limits the liability of the freight forwarder or the warehouseman.
Many of the clauses in the conditions have been tested in court.
A special policy to protect your liabilities
We will arrange a special policy to protect your liabilities as the standard public liability insurance will exclude any liability to property in your custody or control.
We can extend the cover to provide protection for errors and omissions such as sending goods to the wrong destination.
Some freight forwarding and warehousing businesses will offer to provide insurance for their customers.
We can arrange to extend your cover to give you this option but we will need to make sure that this is carried out in accordance with the regulatory procedures set out by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Our independent brokers as well as discussing the cover described previously will also look into the cover to protect your business assets, business interruption and liabilities, as well as motor and engineering.
